Billy

I will look for some Nellingen photos.

I was stationed in Nellingen Barracks from 1956 to 1959. I was in the 168th Combat Engineers Head quarters Company.

I was the designated Radiac responder & went to the Radiac school to Ansbach in 1958 when the U,S. Army went pentomic.

I met & married my wife Elisabeth Wagner who lived in Esslingen. I have returned to Germany about 6 times & stayed all summer long with Liz & my two children.

We had friends That own the Ochsen Guest House in nearby Aichelberg. I remember Nellingen very well. I went back many times before the Army left Germany.

Nellingen Barracks no longer exist they turned the area into civilian condominiums. I remember the Armored unit 23rd Battalion & a ordnance battalion on the post.

I was in the Army maneuver Saber Hawk I was discharged in November 1959 & returned to Hialeah Florida. I now live in Hendersonville North Carolina.

I lost my Wife Liz to ovarian Cancer in 2001. She was a rare beauty of a woman

Liz died very young at age 58. We have two children a son & a Daughter. Both can speak German in that Liz Mother lived with us until she died.

I know the old Rathaus & the Kessler Sekt in Esslingen. Liz & I were married in the New Rathaus in April 1959.

Yes The ordnance company you father was in is most likely the same one at Nellingen when my Unit The the 168th eng, was stationed there.

I am sure the years you dad was at Nellingen was the same time & years i was there. I had a friend in his unit ordnance His Name was Wayne Jordan.

I have many friends in Germany in Esslingen & In Aichelberg. Up on the Mountain Near Aichschieß in The Remstal area. Up By Bach & Strümpfelbach

I will send you any photos i have from this time. Billy i know the Esslingen & Aichelberg & Nellingen area like it was home.

Best Regards
